Once you begin what do I look for ????

Well this all depends on you actually. SOME who want all the facts get everything meaning Birth,Christening,Marriage and Death Certificates. Tax Rolls, Deeds, Wills, census, Military records, Divorce papers, Naturalization Papers, Letters of Intent,Land grants, Land Records.

It all depends on you all you basically need is proof that you are connected to them. Birth, Christening, Death and Marriage certificates and censuses are enough for most.

Ancestry.com is a good place to get any if not all. You can also just google your states vital statistics office.

familySearch.org has been starting to put some documents online also. **(( being an LDS Genea Consult. MY advice when getting any information from the familysearch site also Rootsweb and Ancestry. IS take the information as a base not fact. Because anyone like you and me can enter information on these sites, If one person found out wrong information and puts it on there then YOU will have wrong information, so use that information as a starting point but then Hunt for the truth. I myself know for a this for a fact as my 3rd Great Grandfather is on there 9 times and only the information I entered is correct and it is extremely hard to get them to change anything.))

Ok, I myself look for all the certificates, Licenses and census. I and everyone also look for Immigration information which includes if any pre immigration papers, ships logs, form of Intent and finally Naturalization papers. But once again what you want is upto you just remember its the proof of who they are and the proof that you are connected which is important. If anyone reading this has anything different they want to add or think differently your more then welcome to leave it in a comment of this.
